CD Sunday - DL, Decoupage & Dies

Hi everyone
Well! here it is Christmas Eve & yet somehow I have managed to find the time to put together my card for the current challenge over at CD Sunday.

This time the challenge is to use DL card, Dies & Decoupage.  Here is my card;

I used My Craft Studio "Something Special" CD & Design set 1.  I printed 2 background papers, 2 of the ribbon strips & 3 of the main image.  One of the images was left complete, then the second one I cut out the complete image of the lady, & finally from the third image I cut out the top part of the hat & the fur collar.

The next stage was to die cut the edge of the plain background paper & trim it to fit the card, then trim the patterned background to fit over it.  One of the ribbon strips was placed down the middle of the card & the other one cut up to make a paper bow with tails.  Then the decoupage placed in position.

This card is so far removed from the Christmas cards that I have been making it made a lovely breath of fresh air.

Thank you for popping into my little blog I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone

Oh dear - I weakened

Hi everyone

Yes, I gave in to the offer on C&C a few days back for the MCS "All about Alphabets" & it's 2 accompanying CD's.  They arrived today & I have only had a chance to have a quick look through. There is quite a wide choice of alphabets - it will probably take me ages to choose one when I go to use it.

I have been sitting tight on my hands though - as I have been very much tempted by the 10-cd anniversary set - I am doing OK at the moment.

Right I am now off over to CD Sunday Challenge blogs to see what everyone has been doing this week.

Back again soon.

MCS 4-day deal

........ have you ...... like me ............... weakened & bought the 4-day deal?

I wasn't going to give in - then I saw all those lovely alphabets.  I know I could have bought just that CD on it's own - but it would have been rude to ignore the other 2 - wouldn't it.  Wouldn't it?

So can't wait for it to arrive.

Just thought I would pop in with that thought.

CD Sunday - Home Sweet Home

I thought I should try & join in this weeks CD Sunday challenge early rather than later as we are getting closer to Christmas & it's going to get busy with getting ready.  Although we have generously been given 2 weeks for this challenge.

So, the theme this week is Home Sweet Home.  As I was on my own yesterday afternoon I spent a nice leisurely time going through most of my CD's for the right image.

Here is my card;

& here is a closeup of the corner

Everything was found on "A walk in the Countryside" from Cupcake Crafting (which is now - Creative Crafting World).

I used the snapshot tool to pull out just the images I wanted & created the sentiment.  Then I printed one of the backgrounds that went the best with the image, along with the circular coloured image & one of the black & white square images. I also changed the effect of the square to make it quite pale. The background paper was mounted onto a scalloped edge 8x8 card leaving a border on 3 sides.  I laid the small coloured image on the reverse of the black & white image & drew around it.  Then I cut out the circle. I very lightly marked the position for the coloured image on the background paper & then glued it in place.  The black & white image was added on sticky pads & placed on the background & the sentiment was adhered to a spare piece of the background paper.  All in all I am very pleased with this card.

Thank you for visiting my little blog space - do pop over to the challenge blog & see what everyone is making - just click on the link at the start of the post.

CD Sunday - F is for...

Hi everyone

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday where the theme this week is "F for ...." - so quite a wide field to play in I think.

I love the use of flourishes on cards - so that was my starting point & the CD I chose to search on was My Craft Studio Flourishes Vol 1.  As well as flourishes there are some great backgrounds & silhouette patterns, & there amongst the silhouettes were some fairies. So a double whammy!.

Here is my card;

It is funny how our card making goes in patterns isn't it - at the moment I am very much into monochrome or black & one- colour.  Here the colour with black is pink.  I started with an A4 piece of white card & in MCS created a pink sheet with black flourish overlay.  I selected a flourish & a fairy & grouped them together then placed a pink background behind it.  I wanted it cut out in a circle & then realised I might not have the means to do this.  But an earlier play with a Tonic die that had an outer circle (oval) ring showed me that I did have the means.  This was then layered onto black card & cut out leaving a very narrow border.  I printed an extra fairy & cut her out leaving out some of the fiddly pieces which would show beneath her when I mounted her on the main image on sticky pads.

During my current unpacking (which seems to be ongoing) I came across a supply of paper ribbon - it has been in a box for ages.  I used to make bows & flowers with it - there is a small piece under the card in the photo.  It is actually described as paper rope because it is wound up so tight - but you unravel to get paper ribbon. Some bling was added with pink gems.

Now all I need is for the arrival of my new envelope maker recently ordered from C&C to make the right sized envelope for it.

Do pop across to the blog there are some amazing cards each week.

Thank you for stopping by & if you have time before leaving a comment would be very nice please.

CD Sunday - Simply Square

Whoa! how did we get to Friday already.  On Sunday I checked to see what the challenge for this week was going to be at CD Sunday, then spent some time thinking about it.  On Monday I made a decision - printed off the items I wanted.

Now here it was Friday & I hadn't made the card.  So many things kept having to be done & the card getting pushed onto another day under other things on my desk.

Never mind - I got it done, & here it is;

The colour has not photographed very well - possibly due to the lateness of the afternoon - it is a more greeny-blue.

I used a 5x5 white card which I covered with black card.  The square design comes from My Craft Studio parchment delights Volume 4.  I love these designs on the parchment Cd's as you can turn them into silhouettes.  I then chose a colour from the CD & placed it behind the silhouette image.  I printed 2 of those.  I also printed a ribbon pattern & 2 different backgrounds, but I didn't get around to using the background papers as they just didn't work.

I placed the ribbon centrally across the black card & then mounted the full square design over it leaving a border. Next I cut out the centre panel on the second image which I mounted on to black card leaving a very narrow border.  This was then placed over the central design on the main image on sticky dots. A few flat backed pearls added a little bling.

I actually rather like this little card & think I might make it again in other colours to give me some standby cards for unexpected occasions.

why not pop over to the blog & see what others have been creating - or better still - join in.  Although you may now have to wait until next Sunday's challenge :)

CD Sunday - Pennant Parade

Wow! where do the days go - another Sunday has come & gone & it is time for a new challenge at CD Sunday.  This week it is - Pennant Parade.  Is that - bunting?  Looking at the design team's inspirational cards I think the answer is yes.

The design team are getting very good at really testing me. I didn't have much in the way of bunting on a CD - & before you all shout at me - yes I could have printed papers & cut them out.  Anyway I wanted to find something a little different - if I could.

What do you think?

I used 2 CD's that I had brought from Serif - "Lace Market" & "Hearts & Roses" (a Hearts Design CD).  Everything for the card was produced in Serif Craft Artist. Among the embellishments on the "Lace Market" CD I spotted a length of lace that looked like bunting.  On the CD the embellishments are all black so I re-coloured it by picking the colour from the topper.  The layers were made from one of the backing papers with an embroidery brush used to add the detail to the edges.  I also created a square shape & coloured that a deep burgundy for layering the topper, which I got from picking the colour from deep inside the rose.

Everything was cut out with deckle edge scissors to try & give a softer finish - cutting around the lace was fun.  Here are a couple of close-up photos;

That last photo - yes I finished this card properly - that is the inside.  Now all I need is a wedding!

Thank you for taking a peek at my little blog space.  If you have time please leave a comment it would be very much appreciated.

Some zentangling

Good evening everyone - just popping in with a photo of some zentangling I have done.  I really do find this compulsive & once I start I lose all sense of time.

The 2 images worked are digital flowers & there is still a butterfly to work;

I can thoroughly recommend this technique for relaxing.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog space - if you have time before you go perhaps you would leave a comment.  They are very much appreciated.

CD Sunday - Stripey

Good afternoon everyone.  Well! the challenge at CD Sunday this week - is - Stripey.  Now! I can't make up my mind if I prefer those challenges with a set theme (ie - images) - or one like this where the image part is open wide for choice as long as it contains the element suggested.  I have made a card &  I still don't know which type I prefer.

Anyway - that's my problem isn't it.  Here is the card I made using My Craft Studio CD "Wings & Things" CD2

I wanted a shape other than a plain, folded in half, card - so I looked out a border die I have & placed it on the front of the card diagonally & cut away the top right portion.  I think I should have moved it up a little more then the border would really have been edge to edge - never mind.

Here is a close-up of the corner topper;

I mounted the topper onto a piece of white card leaving a very narrow border, to give it another layer & lift the pink edge from the background.  Then I printed & cut out 2 more of the flowers in the topper.  I cutout the complete flower from the first image & then the inner petal layer from the second image.  A little pressure from an embossing tool to curly them slightly & then decoupaged them onto the topper & added a flat back pink pearl in the centre.  Some more flat back pink pearls decorate the corners.

Do pop over to the CD Sunday challenge blog - there is some amazing work.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog space & if you have time before you move on perhaps you would leave a comment.  Comments are always very much appreciated.

I made top 3!

Good morning everyone & a much brighter one it is too - lovely sunshine here at the moment.

I have just popped over to the CD Sunday challenge blog to find out what the challenge is this week & read that I have been picked for the top 3 for a recent challenge.  In fact number 1!!

The challenge was on Sunday 20 October & the theme was Foxes & Friends - here is my card again;

Now to search my CD's in order to enter this weeks challenge.

'Bye for now - I will be back later with my card.  Thank you for stopping by & if you have time to leave a comment it is always much appreciated.

CD Sunday - Travels Abroad

Oh dear - I really did struggle with the challenge this week at CD Sunday - considering I had a holiday abroad back in August in Brittany you would have thought it would be easy.  But i don't possess a CD with a French theme.  So I didn't think I would take part - but then I don't like missing them.

So! At least I had Joanna Sheen's CD - Egyptian Adventure, so that's what I used;

I had just finished sorting out a folder box with card in it & there was this burgundy coloured card with some of it missing.  I noticed it picked up the burgundy shading on the palm trees & now the other 2 images have been mounted they too have little burgundy patches in them.

I layered the 2 background papers onto the card then overlapped them slightly to fit the white card. The 2 top images are on sticky pads & the one with Egypt on it is adhered flat.

Currently there is no back to this card as I struggled to find a suitable sized card - in order to meet the deadline I have left sorting that until later.  I will probably put a hinged back on to it.

Now I must hurry & link this post to the CD Sunday challenge blog.  Do pop over there & see everyone elses creations - they are fantastic crafters.

Thank you for stopping by & if you have time please leave a comment they really are appreciated.

CD Sunday - Fox & Friends

Good afternoon everyone - well the rain has stopped & the sun is out, so quite a nice day now.

Over at CD Sunday challenge blog this week the theme is "Fox & Friends" - I was a bit worried about that - as I was not sure what I had that would fit the challenge. Then I remembered Jane Netley Mayhew Collection & there on CD 2 was the image I needed.  In fact there were 2 images.

The background paper came from the CD as well, it is made from the foliage that is to the side of the fox in the top image.  I layered the background paper onto some orangey/tan coloured card & found a Promarker that went with it to colour the ribbon, then placed it on a square white card. The lower image has been placed flat on the card & the top image is raised on sticky pads.  It doesn't show up too clearly on the photo but in the lower right hand corner there is a little flourish embellishment.  I chose it because it was almost the colour of the background paper.  In the top left hand corner are 3 little flat backed butterfly gems whose colour almost matches the ribbon.

Thank you for visiting my little blog I hope you found it interesting.  If you have time before you go please leave a comment - they are always very much appreciated.

Lets Get Sketchy - October week 2 - #51

Hello everyone
I had been thinking recently it was about time I started entering some sketch challenges - especially if it helps me get my many photos scrapped.  Of course one of the biggest events to turn into memory pages is my recent wedding.  So that was the trigger for joining this challenge.

I decided to go with the sketch over at Lets get Sketchy as I knew just which photos  to use & also I had not entered one of their challenges for some time.

This is the sketch;

Here is my page & I haven't deviated all that much from sketch as it was so nice.

It is a digital page as this is how I make my pages at the moment & I use Serif Craft Artist.  The papers & embellishment come from a pack called Cream Dream which just suited the cake photos.

Thank you for visiting my little blog space I hope you enjoyed your visit & that you will call again. If you have time before you go please leave a comment they are much appreciated.

New follower

Hi everyone - just popping in to welcome a new follower.

Hello Starcyl - I hope you enjoy your visits & thank you for becoming a follower of my little blog.

CD Sunday - Butterfly

Another week has gone past & it's time again for the challenge over at CD Sunday & this week the theme is "Butterfly".

Here is my card;

I used MCS Parchment Delights CD's - one for the background & Vol 3 for the image.  I often use the Parchment CD's & change the colour of the image to suit an idea.  So I took the pale image & changed it to black creating a silhouette version. Then I printed the original image again onto white card & cut out the individual butterflies adding a little more colour to them with Promarkers.  I then cut them out, clear embossed them for a shiny finish & layered them over the black image slightly offsetting them.  Something else was needed to lift it & I layered the whole onto a piece of black card leaving a very narrow border.  The ribbon was a great find & I layered that as well onto a strip of black card.  In the box with the ribbon was that lovely floral ribbon which again was just what I needed - so that was placed over the ribbon.  A couple of flat back gems to add a little bit of bling & voila!  Butterfly card.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog I hope you enjoyed your visit & if you wish to leave a comment it will be much appreciated.

I made top 3!

Good evening everyone - I found out this afternoon that my entry for the CD Sunday challenge - Snow People was chosen in the top 3.
This challenge was for Sunday 22 September & you can see the card in my previous post.
I took my time over the last challenge & missed the date - so I had better pull my finger out for the challenge this week.
Hope to back fairly soon with my entry.

CD Sunday - Snow people

Over at CD Sunday Challenge this week the theme is snow people.

This is my card for the challenge -

I turned to 2 My Craft Studio CD's for this card - the background is from The Magic of Christmas - Vol 1 - Contemporary, & the snow people are from Parchment Delights - Vol 3.

I layered the background onto a red square whilst still using MCS to give it a frame this was then placed on a square white card.  The snow people I printed twice.  They had a sort of "snow glob" partially behind them which didn't fit with my idea so I cut that off from both images.  They were then placed together with sticky pads & placed on the background.  To give it a wintry feel I added some glitter by scribbling with a glue pen.  Glitter & I do not get along - but this much I can manage.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit & if you would like to leave a comment it will be very much appreciated.

Background paper

Hello everyone - goodness I hadn't realised it had been so long sine last blogging.  It's probably due to the fact that I have had to try & finish sorting my new craft room as it has to have a single bed in it & the bed will be used this weekend. Having to concentrate on that I haven't had time to enter any challenges - but hope to put that right this week.

Anyway  - to my background paper.  Well that is what it will be when I have found the right images to go over it.

This morning about 7:15 the sky was absolutely amazing & I have a "thing" about taking photos of the changes in the seasons & times of day - so got snapping.

This is one of the 6 photos I took -

Just looking at it you wonder where the aircraft that left those streams have been or where they are going, don't you.

This one is the one I must turn into background paper -

I was thinking that if I put it through the MCS effect "swirl" it would produce some great patterns for more backgrounds. Then there are all the things that can be done with it in Serif Craft Artist too.  Hmm! must find time - no! - make time, to play.

Thank you for stopping by - I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Perhaps you will pop back again to see what I actually do with that photo.

Back from holiday

Hi everyone
Sorry I have not been blogging but I have been on holiday - didn't have a good enough internet access to blog - much too slow.

Still I have some fantastic photos from the holiday which I can't wait to start working on - so watch this space.

Talk again soon. 'Bye.

cd sunday - add a number

A simple request for a card - but took me a bit of time to sort out.

Yes it is challenge time again at CD Sunday & I wasn't sure I would have time to enter as I have a busy week.  But in a little break between tasks today I had a play - & here is my card

It hasn't photographed too well - I think I shouldn't have taken the photo with the card on the windowsill.

I used Docrafts Digital Designer & the Celebrations CD.  The papers & images have been placed on a scalloped edge 8x8 card.  After I had chosen the background, image & text I needed something to lift it a bit.  There in my newly organised box of papers was a sheet that was almost the same colour as the teddies.  So I layered the background, the greeting & the main image onto the paper. The finds went on as I then found the ribbon which almost matched the layering paper & some flowers with a creamy shade.  After I had put it altogether it needed a little something else - & so I added the bling to the fireworks on the main image & the spray of silvery beads to the rose spray, along with some more bling on the flower spray.

Do go & have a look at what all the lovely clever ladies have made - why not have a go yourself - it is fun & whats more you get a card created.

Thank you for visiting my little blog - please call again

CD Sunday - quick & cute

Over at the CD Sunday Challenge blog, this week, they set the challenge theme of "Quick & Cute".

Well! my card was certainly quick & I hope it is cute - I used "Forever Friends" Black & Gold Collection from DoCraft Digital Designer CD which if I remember correctly came free with a magazine but I cannot remember which one.

Here is my card;

I chose to create this on a 5x5 card & added drop shadows to make the various elements look like they were different layers.  When I went to print it the image was right in the middle of an A4 card. I haven't used this Docraft digital designer much but it didn't take too long to see I could tell the printer where to place the image.  So I chose landscape & right over to the right-hand edge.  I then trimmed it down with a fancy cutter, folded it in half & even printed a sheet of the spotted background onto paper for an insert.  Voila! Quick & Cute - well I think so.

Why not pop over to the blog by clicking the link above & see the inspiration from the design team & what others have made.

Thank you for stopping by - please call again.

Zentangle

Good morning all

I thought it was about time I wrote a post that wasn't just about challenges I was entering.

Sometime back I discovered Zentangle & although I thought it sounded interesting I didn't actually get around to trying it out.  Then last year when I went on holiday I took a notebook & fine nib pen with me so that when I had  quiet moment or two - if I had a quiet moment or two - I could have a play.

Before going on holiday I "Googled" it to see if there was anything special I should be doing.  Most of the articles I found talked about the Zentangle tile.  So that is what I tried.  I can't show you the results as I don't appear to have kept them for some reason.  Or perhaps they are in one of the few remaining boxes I have left to unpack.

When I got back home from my holiday I realised I could use some of my outline stamps for this. Now I have not got confused - I know this is my digital blog.  But my play this weekend was exactly that - digital - well the base image was.  I found this lovely & perfect butterfly on a royalty free website a few weeks back & decided it would be my first proper attempt.

Here is how this butterfly ended up looking after my play, which I have to say - was really very relaxing;

I am really pleased with it & have now started on a styilised flower.  Will be showing that later.  So that I can finally write a post on my rubber stamping blog - I am now off to find a suitable stamp & have a play.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely day.

I have won .................

.......... it's so exciting because with my craft room still being sorted I can't put my hands on some things - like embellishments , glitter etc.  But not to worry because my card in last weeks challenge at  CD Sunday has been picked as a winner.

The theme was Garden Pleasures & this is my card;

After the excitement of a wedding & moving house I think my creative mojo is back!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you CD Sunday.

CD Sunday - Transportation

I am running late - it is Friday already & I haven't put my CD Sunday Challenge entry up yet.  The paperwork has been sitting on my desk for a couple of days waiting to be used.

The theme this week is Transportation - so once again I turned to My Craft Studio & the Illustrious Illusions (CD2);

For my card I chose the Hot-air balloon.  I have rather fancied a trip in a hot air balloon but I am not very good with heights & to just be standing in a basket - that is a no go.

I created the base card by choosing a background & then drawing a colour shape around it which I sent to the back to create a frame.  I did the same with the topper adding an extra frame to it so that the 2 pieces went together.  I copied the large balloon cut off the basket, curled the edges & stuck it over the original on fairly deep sticky pads.  (I think the curve shows up).  Then I typed the "Up, Up & Away" put it on a blue background & created the red frame again to match it all together.

No embellishments on it as they are the boxes I am still searching for.

If you haven't come to my blog from the CD Sunday blog why not pop over there & see what all those clever ladies create.  Thank you for visiting - please come again.

Serif pick of the week

Oh dear, oh dear
I watched for a few days & finally gave in.
Yesterday I ordered the C&C Serif Pick of the Week - Stamps & Punches CD's (1 & 2), then I threw caution to the wind & ordered the Hearts Design CD as well.
My credit card has hidden itself at the bottom of my bag crying out "leave me alone!!"
But when it realises how much money I will save from buying other things such as background papers etc - I think it will forgive me.  Oh come on - who am I kidding!!!!!!!!!!

Is my credit card crazy or me - I leave you to decide.  :)

It is great to be back & crafting once again - keep an eye on this space I intend to use it - & how.

CD Sunday - Garden Pleasures

Finally! I am back joining in with the CD Sunday challenges & this week the theme is Garden Pleasures.

Yesterday morning I spent a pleasant hour or so going through my CD's to find the image I wanted - the first time since I moved house I have really had the chance to do this.  I finally found what I was looking for even though at the start I didn't know what that was.  We have seen some lovely butterflies in our new garden & this just jumped out at me & said "Use me!"

Here is my card

I used My Craft Studio Petal Pairs CD & Papercraft Library Volume 1.  I made the card last night & took the photo this morning - then realised I had not made a note of which CD I had used.  So! it took me nearly an hour to find the right one(s).  I wish when you opened a project in MCS that it also brought with it the files that you used - but it doesn't seem to.

So I used one of the aperture cards as base but only printed out the front & I did this twice.  From one of them I cut out the aperture & trimmed it a little smaller than the other one.  The scalloped topper came in 3 sizes so I cropped out the 2 I didn't require & adjusted the size to fit the aperture.  I selected the background paper I wanted & adjusted it slightly to fit on half an A4 sheet & copied & pasted it so that I had 2 pieces (just in case).  I found the ribbon & bow in  the embellishments & cut out 2 of those.  I also cropped the main image to pick out the butterfly on its own.  The topper was attached to the base card & then I put some acetate behind the aperture of the top layer & placed them over each other.  I decided the whole thing needed a little lift so I placed the lower layer onto black card then run a black Promarker around the top layer so that they stood out more. The butterfly I cut out & adhered to the acetate for the 3-d effect.  The ribbon & bow was then added & I cut out the bow only from the second piece & placed that on top with a foam pad.

This is the background paper that I used.  It seemed a shame to cover it with the topper (I would normally use a plain colour as my base) - but I have noticed that lots of card makers use patterned paper - so I thought it was time I tried it too.   I am pleased with the effect.

So there you are - my first really good play since moving house.  Now! off to do some stamping.

Do pop over to the CD Sunday blog & see what everyone else is doing for this challenge & also take a look at what the fabulous design team have given us for inspiration.

Thank you for visiting - I hope you enjoyed your stay.

A craft room - first stage

At last I can actually sit down in my new craft room, at my desk - well sort of.  I have to breathe in to get there so I got my DH to take a photo of me sat at my desk. Take a look & see.

Yes! that's me - down at the end, partly behind all the boxes.  Down there I have a desk, a bookcase, my 2 ten-drawer trolleys which hold stamps, inks & other essentials, & a spotlight lamp.  After this long a gap of being able to get to things what more could a girl want!!!!

Here is the rest of the room.  This is the view as you open the door from the lounge.

& this is the view to the right, looking toward the window.  The mattress has now gone & there is a walkway between the rows of boxes which is what you could see in the first photo.

The room is a converted garage so you can grasp an approximate size of it.  Now all I need is to get things out of boxers & on shelves.

But patience is a virtue & I will get there.  But some of the other rooms in the house still have boxes so they need sorting too.

CD Sunday ........... S is for ............

Hooray a chance to join in a challenge after a much much too long a break.

I am in my new house, I have a craft room  - which I cannot properly get into yet.  But I do have my laptop & so having a rest from some unpacking I thought I would try the CD Sunday challenge.

As I cannot yet access card & paper I am afraid my offering is a jpeg of what could be printed.  It is also very simple - but I needed to join in I have been getting withdrawal symptoms.  Hopefully this coming Sunday I will be able to join in properly.

So "S is for ........... "!  I have used a digikit I have & created the card with Serif Craft Artist.  I am sure the kit I have used was a CD based one & not a download.  It is called Christmas Gift & I am sure it is a Serif kit.

My S is for Snowflake & here is my card

I am off now to add it to CD Sunday & see what other lovely creations people have made.  Why not click on the link above & see what the challenge is all about.

Thank you for stopping by.

cracking up

Hi everyone
You may recently have spotted 2 blog posts that were headed Mold photos - part 1 & part 2.

I posted them here in error - they should have been posted on my blog for my rubber stamp clubs.  I have now moved them.  Obviously moving house has definitely addled my brain.

I hope to have something to blog about here in the next day or two, as at the moment it is the only type of crafting I can do. I can't get near to my stamping & other card making items yet.  The craft room will probably sadly be the last room to be sorted.

Talk to you soon.

A lucky page

Good morning everyone & what a beautiful day it is.  More of this sunshine please.

I am sure I have mentioned on here before that I belong to a Facebook group for user of Serif Craft Artist digital software.  It is the software I use for most of my digital work.

During May the group admin team have been running a challenge.  We were given a minikit to work with - consisting of a couple of backgrounds & images (& that is a very simple definition of the kit).  We had to use at least one background & one embellishment & of course the many many features of CAP.

On going to the Facebook page this morning I find that one of my entries - I did 2 - has been chosen as one of the top six.  What a brilliant start to the day!

The tree - as you see it in the small oval at the bottom was one of the images as was the green flower at the corners - although in the kit the flowers were yellow-gold. I framed  the complete tree pictures inside a green shape & put it through one of the many photo effects which changed it to this green shade & added white highlights & also embossed the green frame  The oval has had the 3-d (pyramage) tool used on it to give it 3 layers as well as being cropped to the oval shape.

I am very proud of being selected as there were some truly amazing entries.

My blogging over the next couple of weeks will be a bit hit & miss as we are due to move home on the 18 June.  Then once my craft room is organised (as quickly as I can manage) - I will be back regularly.

Thank you for visiting I hope you enjoyed your stay.

CD Sunday challenge - Aged to Perfection

Good morning everyone!  I hope your are all well.

I have now reached the final week as a guest designer for CD Sunday Challenge blog where this week the theme is "Aged to Perfection".  I can't wait to see what the Design Team have created, as this one gave me more to think about.  Did I have the right material on CD's for it?

Well the answer was yes - purely because back in early April I decided there were certain genre missing in my CD collection, I didn't have humorous, so I purchased a couple.  I bought Wine Buffs & La Pashe Wrinklies.

When I was trying to decide which one to use for this challenge I kept changing my mind & swapping between the 2.  In the end I chose ...............................

............. Wrinklies.   Aren't they cute?

I printed the topper twice so that I could do some decoupage & also printed from one of my Serif digi kits, a pretty pale blue background paper.  I forgot to check which digi kit it came from.  Then using a scalloped circle die I created my round card & with a smaller size cut a circle from the background paper.  Then with the next smallest die I cut out the topper.  The card was cut from an A4 sheet of white card & I scored one of the circles about 1" down from the top & adhered it to the second circle to create the finished card.  I inked the edges of the background paper to make it stand out against the white card then layered it onto the card. A Promarker run around the edges of the topper to create shadow. I then cut out the couple & their head phones, their ipod & the cat from the second topper.  These items were placed on 3-d pads to create the height.  I then typed up the sentiment cut it out with a label die I had, inked the edges & attached it to the topper with pale blue square brads.  The topper & label were then attached to the card on double sided pads & some blue ribbon tied at the top to finish.

I know just what I am going to use this card  for.  If you have been following my little excursion into the world of being a Guest Designer you will know that on week 1 the theme had been Weddings - chosen because I was to be married just prior to that date.  Well the day I married was also the anniversary of meeting my OH - which we always celebrate with cards.  So this card was to be my anniversary card to him - yes, they are a "wrinklie" couple, & no - we don't class ourselves as wrinklies just mature.

Thank you CD Sunday for inviting me to be a guest designer - it has been fun.  Thank you to everyone visiting my blog I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Why not pop over to the CD Sunday blog & see how others interpreted this theme.  Why not have a go yourselves!  I hope you will also continue to pop in from time to time to see what else I am creating.

'Bye for now.

CD Sunday - Go Green

It's time for another challenge over at CD Sunday Challenge Blog & my third week as a Guest Designer.

The theme is "Go Green" - now that tested me.  Should the design be green?  Should it do with greenery?  Or - is it recycling type go green?  Which way did I go green - well I went recycling - in a fashion.

Here is what I did -

It's a little hanging ornament that is 2 old CD's with a doilie & some green ribbon sandwiched between them.  The papers & image are from a My Craft Studio CD called "Pretty in Porcelain" from the section called "Everyday" & the design called "Cameo".  Pretty In Porcelain is based around painted plate designs - I love it.  I printed out the plate design then the central panel twice - again just a little bigger.  The plate image was glued to one of  the CD's then the central panel placed on sticky pads over it & finally I cut just the silhouette character from the second image & placed it over the first, again on  sticky pads.  The ribbon I coloured with Promarkers.

Because I printed out some of the images more than once I had enough left over to make a card. Here it is -

I glued a green circle to the front of the card, then a doilie over that then one of the plate designs.  Before that I had added some light colour to the card by brushing with green chalk.  Finally I stamped the little wavy stamp design on the corners of the cards because I didn't like the negative space - it does compliment the filigree design on the plate a bit.

I really enjoyed this challenge as it made me step out of my comfort zone of just making cards.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.  If you haven't come here from the challenge blog why not pop over there now & see what others are making.

Another wedding page

I quite enjoyed making my first page yesterday so I decided to make another one using that same multi-frame.  These pages may just stay on my laptop or I may end up printing them I am not sure yet.  I really will have to sit down & think about the photos logically so that when the pages are put together they make more sense.  These two pages are really for trying out things.

Top left picture is the beautiful setting for our wedding.  The top little photo is my daughter in law fixing my necklace & the lower one of Bob & I doing a pretend cut of the cake, & the lower large photo is the registrar saying "you are now man & wife" & congratulating us.

The registrar was an absolutely delightful man & most accommodating of my request of music to enter by.  It was about 5 minutes long & I didn't come into the room until just on half-way through.  He had told our guests, & Bob of course, that there was a bit of a long lead in, as he didn't want them getting restless thinking I wasn't turning up.

Probably back with another page tomorrow.

wedding pages - first one

Hello

I have just had a play with a multi section frame made by one of the ladies on the Craft Artist Facebook group.

I thought it would be a good way to make my first page of my recent wedding.

We had so many photos taken it is going to be difficult to choose those to use.  I am not fond of having my photograph taken & find it difficult to smile to order but I am still pleased with the results.  The other thing that happens is if the photographer takes their time I usually end up saying something - speaking to someone - & that's when they take the photo.  I think that happened in the one of us pretending to sign the register.

I like this multi frame & think I might use it again - it is so handy for putting a lot of photos on one page.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Two new followers

Hi everyone - just popping in to say "Welcome" to 2 new followers.

Welcome to Sue & Beryl.  I do hope you enjoy your visits to my little digital blog space & thank you for becoming followers.

CD Sunday - Ornate Blossoms

Hello everyone

Another week in my spell as a Guest designer over at CD Sunday Challenge Blog, & this week the theme is Ornate Blossoms.

Here is my card;

I chose a My Craft Studio CD called NSR Florals.  The NSR stands for No Stamp Required, this is because many of the images on the CD are digital stamps to be printed out & coloured.  But they do also have pre-coloured images as well, & it was a pre-coloured image I went for.  I just loved the vibrant colours in these flowers & to me they fitted the word Ornate.

Here is a close-up of the top 2 flowers which just about shows the glitter I put on them.

I printed 2 of the floral sprays & found it rather difficult to cut around those stems at the bottom so I cut them away completely.  Then on the other image I cut around all of the image leaving a narrow white border - a little like some stickers you can buy.  The background paper which has "just for you" printed all over also came from the CD.  Obviously a big spray like this one needed a big card so I used a scalloped edge 8" x 8" card.  I cut the background paper to make a central panel, then cut 2 strips from the remainder & punched the floral design along the edges.  Then very bravely & with tongue between teeth I cut each side of them with some scalloped edge scissors & tried very hard to mimic the edge of the card.  I am pleased with the result which was finished off with a spotty lilac bow & a couple of butterflies (which were also from the CD).

Thank you for stopping by my blog I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Why not pop over to the CD Sunday blog & see what others have created.  Why not join in the challenge yourself?

CD Sunday - Weddings

Good morning & for me a very exciting morning as I have been invited to be a guest designer for the month of May on the CD Sunday Challenge Blog - so this is my first week.

The theme for today is "Weddings" & it seems it was chosen with me in mind as I got married just a week ago & today will be returning home from my honeymoon in Malta.

So, enough about me let's look at the card.

The image comes from the "Seraphina Through The Ages" CD by Doolicraft.
There are 2 CD's & this image was from CD1.

The lilac background paper is actually an  insert paper left over from a card kit that I purchased from Create & Craft quite a while back.  I used all the cards & elements but didn't use the inserts.  I have used it as a wrap around.  The image I selected to use is a pyramage sheet & I rather liked the black & white monotone picture.  The floral embellishments are from the good old "bits & bobs" box we all have.

I haven't put a sentiment on it at this stage - as I am going to use it to give my OH on our wedding day so need to find the right thing to put.

Now! I appreciate that sounds odd seeing as I said I have just come back from honeymoon - but I am sure you will have guessed these challenge cards are prepared well ahead of time.  Well mine was.

This is a close up of the image - I think you can just about make out the small amount of glitter I put on it to make her dress sparkle a little.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog I hope you enjoyed your visit & if you didn't get here from the CD Sunday blog why not click on the link at the top of this post & see what other Designers have made.  Why not have a go yourself - it is fun.
